How I take digital notes

Hello people! How are you all?

Today, I wanted to share it with the different methods I use to take my digital notes. I have a few ways I love to use when it's time to take notes. It can depend on whether my mood or the subject.

The first method I use is typing in a word document or on OneNote document.

The only reason I would use this way of note-taking is if I have to take heavy notes without having visual supports. That's what I was doing in college (CEGEP for my Montreal followers). My teacher wasn't using any visual support and was writing everything on the board. Was making arrows and adding stuff she forgot to say in the previous class. It was too unorganized to write on a notebook so tapping notes let me add stuff on previous notes.

What I love the most about OneNote, is you can create folders and subfolders for every class you have. You can decide to create a subfolder for every chapter, for each day, or even for every quarter. You can personalize it as much as you want. Also, OneNote is an unlimited page. So you can add text forever.

The second method I use to take notes is on my Ipad. There is a few apps you can buy and download or with the new IOS 14 you can use the note app that comes with your Ipad and it also works perfectly. The only thing is that you can do fewer things. The main app I use for note-taking on my Ipad is GoodNotes5. On there, there is two ways I take notes:

- I either download the PowerPoint the teacher has given us and simply annotate it while the teacher is speaking. I will, after the class take notes

on another document, rewrite the notes in my own word the most I can.

- If the teacher doesn't give visual support and only writes on the board I usually write down everything by hand (again on my iPad) if the teacher doesn't speak too fast. Once again, after the class, I will rewrite everything in my own word. It helps you make sure you understand what you just learned.

When the time comes to rewrite my notes, I use the Cornell method. Basically, this is where you separate your page into 2 or 3 sections. I don't use the 3 sections template because I feel like I always have too much information to summarize everything into 2 or 3 sentences.

Mostly with online school right now and being able to have open books for my exams, I find it really helpful because you only have to scan the margin if you are looking for a specific point. As I said earlier, you can remove the summary section if you don't want it.

If you still want to take notes on your computer but you don't want to type them, if your teachers give you a PowerPoint you can always take notes in the comment section below the slides. I used to do this a bit in my economy class on my first university semester.

Here's basically how I would take digital notes. If you want to see more of the digital notes I take on my Ipad, you can always follow me on Instagram at @emmaa_studies

I hope you like it,

with love
